After packing the plantain in a nylon for me, I noticed it was so small and not looking too well. I complained about it. Her response drove in a major lesson for me. She said, “thank God you can still see some to buy. Any moment from now, you would no longer see to buy. We are not in the season of plantain”.

Friend, life is about times and seasons. The understanding of the times is a critical skill for men of destiny. This was why the children of Issachar stood out in their generation. They were men that understood the times. They gained leadership and commanded relevance (1 Chronicles 12:32).

Scarcity, rarity, struggle, huge price etc. are all reflections that you are not in a season of something. That was why I could not get the plantain easily, and when I did get, it was expensive. I needed to make do with the ones I saw; I had no choice. But the season comes when the sellers would be practically begging me to buy it and I would be able to pay just as low as any price for it.

Life is in cycles. Opportunities come in seasons. When you miss your season, you would have to pay a higher price. This is why you need to be sensitive to your season. You need people in your life who would sensitize you to your season. If not for Mordecai, Esther would have missed her season (Esther 4:14-16). Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they did not know the time of their visitation (Matthew 23:37-39).

“God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go” (Romans 8:14 MSG). The Holy Spirit tries to bring us into an awareness of our season. Our posture must be to yield to Him even when we don’t seem to understand (Acts 10:9-16). There is a time to build, enrol for that course, start that ministry etc. There is a time to submit to process (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9). Life has not been designed to be a struggle. Once you have successfully paid your dues, you would enter your due season. Don’t envy a man who is in his season; rather be encouraged to pay your own dues. Life is about seed time and harvest (Genesis 8:22).
