Some couple of days ago, I was watching my daughter climb the chair in the sitting room. She would climb, roll over to the other side, climb again and so on. Then it dawned on me that she could not do this some couple of months ago. What looked like a mountain to her then is now cheap, because she has grown.

Friend, one major advantage that you have over life’s mountains; problems, challenges etc. is that mountains don’t grow, but you can grow! I have not seen any mountain increase in size or height, not even Mount Everest! They have always been like that. The same applies to life’s problems and challenges, they don’t grow.

One of the indicators that you are growing spiritually is that what used to be a problem to you yesterday is no longer a problem today. Listen, if you keep grappling with the same problem every now and then it’s a sign that you are not growing. There is a connection between mountain and Faith (Matthew 17:17-20). When you grow your Faith you would surmount your mountains.

Let me ask you, what have you grappled with in this outgoing year? How have you fared? What are the stuff that are still posing as mountains before you? What are you doing about them? One of the decisions that you must make as you move to the new year is the decision to grow. Growth is not just a Christian motivation, it is a necessary requirement for mastery in life and destiny. If you don’t grow, you would groan.

“…and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” (Isaiah 10:27). The statement, “because of the anointing”, actually means, “because you have grown fat, obese, too large etc.” True and lasting deliverance comes when you grow. Growth would break the yoke off your neck! This was the advantage that Esau would have over Jacob’s rulership; “…When you grow restless, you will tear off his yoke from your neck” (Genesis 27:40 NET).

What “yoke” are you supposed to “tear” off your neck? What challenge of life do you need to gain mastery over? What are those problems holding you down? You need to grow! Growth brings mastery! This season, seek to grow in Grace, Faith, Knowledge, Understanding, Capacity, and in all areas of life (Proverbs 24:10, Luke 1:80, 2:40, 52, 2 Peter 1:5, 3:18). This must be your lifelong commitment. Remember, if you don’t grow, you would groan!
