In those days on campus, we had some lecturers that would threaten us with failure. One of them in particular would come to the class and say, “no matter what you do some of you will fail this course”. He kept telling us that even while writing his paper in the exam hall. But I kept insisting, “I have passed this course, no matter what”.

Friend, God wants your life to be Covenant Compliant. But for this to happen you have got a role to play; it is to insist on the Covenant. This is what it means to fight the good fight of faith. The fight of faith is not a warfare against witches and wizards as some of us might have thought. It is a fight to remain in faith, believing that your life will conform to what God has said in His word.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, …” (1 Timothy 6:12). Most times, the circumstances around you would negate the reality of God’s word concerning you. You are not supposed to bow to the circumstances but to insist that the circumstances would bow to you; you are to force the circumstances to conform to the Covenant.

The Covenant here talks about all that have been made available for you in Christ via His death and resurrection. It is what the shed blood of Christ has ushered you into. However, it is one thing to have the Covenant established based on what Christ has done, it is another thing for you to make it yours practically. You must insist and never give up until the word works in your life (Romans 4:17-21).

You need to keep speaking the word of God until it becomes a reality in your life. “But our brothers and sisters beat him. Because the Lamb died and his blood came out. They beat the Devil because they spoke what is true. They were ready to die. They refused to stop saying what God has done for them” (Revelation 12:11 Easy English Version). This is, perhaps, one of the best rendition of this all important scripture.

“The word of their testimony” as read in KJV is not just some random testimonies. It is actually to voice what Christ has done for you. You are testifying of what the blood of Jesus has accomplished for you. You are speaking and insisting on total health in Christ even when the doctor says you have cancer (1 Peter 2:24). You are speaking and insisting that you are blessed in Christ even in the face of ancestral curses (Galatians 3:13-14). Insist on the Covenant; stand your ground on the finished work of Christ until the blessings of it are yours. Amen!
