“And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men” (Acts 24:16).

Christianity is a two-dimensional living; we have to live practically among men, the life we have with God. It is when this happens that we would be able
to say boldly that we have a clear conscience towards God and men. This has to be an exercise; something we carry out intentionally and sincerely. It must be something we commit ourselves to doing daily.

The reason why it has to be an exercise is because it would not always be easy. We must do our very best under God to achieve this. The road is going to be rough and tough. People are going to take you for granted. You are going to give up some of your rights. Some people are going to misunderstand you. You have got to endure some mockeries.

Your flesh would want to tempt you to give up and give in to it. Sometimes, you would miss it, but you must not give up. It’s an exercise, and it must be a daily one. None of us is perfect, we are all journeying towards perfection. But the journey is made easy and glorious when we stay connected to the perfect God and leverage His help on a daily basis.

We must not forget that we have provisions from God at the throne of Grace (Hebrews 4:15-16). The throne of Grace is not where you only go to when you are fine. It is where you carry your messes, mistakes and weaknesses to. God already knew that you would need help in living out the Christian life among men so He already made provisions for your daily victory.

The provision that God made available is His Grace. This is why He kept telling Paul that, my Grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Did you see that? God’s strength is made perfect in my weakness, in my imperfection! This is why I need to take my imperfections to Him so that His perfect Grace can take it over.

May we find help daily in God as we maintain the right conscience before God and men in Jesus name!
